Wildlife
Until the beginning of 2009 I had little interest in taking wildlife photographs. I am a member of the RSPB and my wife and I frequently visit our local reserve on Rainham Marshes and over the past couple of years I decided I should start taking pictures. So at the start of this year I made the effort to record some of the birds we saw.
Then in April we visited Grantown-on-Spey in Scotland and I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed looking for birds and animals to photograph. There is a large RSPB site at Loch Garten, where Osprey's were breeding and the area is a haven for some really beautiful creatures.
Although I consider myself a real novice when it comes to this type of photography, and the techniques are very different from landscapes and portraits, I have been very pleased with the results.
The equipment needed for wildlife is much different from landscapes, much longer lenses are needed and the weather can disrupt the photography more than with landscapes, but the results can be very rewarding.
