Monochrome

One of the advantages of digital images is that black and white can be made after the image has been taken. If, when I view the image on the computer, I feel it might look better as a monochrome I can convert it.

Black and white photography is still as popular as it has ever been and there are those who continue to work with film, process it in their own dark rooms and print using the same methods that have been used for the past 100 years. I have to admit there was some charm in watching an image appear in the developing tray but I would not go back to it. The epson printer I use now produces remarkable monochrome prints as well as colour, having 8 separate inks.

There is something about black and white that compels me to convert images. Monochrome is less forgiving than colour and will show up faults far more readily.
